Commit to yourself!

As we are settling into January, have you decided what you want out of this new year? If you don’t know what you want, what you hope to accomplish, what you want to achieve– then how can you expect to ever get there??? I am challenging you to take some time and figure out exactly what you want to change in your life in the next few weeks to months!

Where do you think best? For me, its out in nature without a lot of people around. I’ll take a long walk on the beach, or go hike on a trail without a lot of foot traffic. I can go out and paddle board or surf and just convene in the peace and quiet. Sometimes even a good, long run will bring me to that private place of thought. Whatever works for you, devote a few minutes to yourself this weekend, and spend some time finding what you truly want to see for yourself this year. You’re worth it, don’t you think??

After you have decided on a few specific things that you’d like to change, let me help you figure out how to reach those goals. Remember from our previous chats, that goals must be achievable, measurable, specific, and objective. For example, one of my goals for this year is to run a marathon. If I want to run that 26.2 miles sometime this Spring, I need to start a marathon training program now. I need to figure out my schedule and know exactly how many miles I must run every day to be able to properly prepare for that race.

If I don’t know what my end goal is, how would I know how many miles I need to run daily or weekly to prepare myself for the race?? You MUST know what you want to get out of your life or you’ll just keep moving without any real direction or purpose. I know that life can get crazy sometimes and it’s so overwhelming to even thing about having some quiet time to yourself, but I urge you to realize that you are worth that few minutes! It can truly change your life once you decide where you want to go with your life. Take the time and I can’t wait to hear all of the good ideas and goals that you come up with!
